Sick jacket

This coat is bomber, stoked to have found it. I used to ride Arc'Teryx jackets but got tired of the mountaineer look. From there I went to Volcom but the L was the only model that really fit and didn't have the features I was looking for. I bought this jacket on a whim before road trip and it quickly became the MVP. Perfect length in the arms and body, well-placed and thought out pockets, removable pow skirt, wrist gaiters and a pass pocket on the upper arm. This is my first Burton [ak] product and I'm already looking to add some pants. FWIW, I'm 6'3", 230# and have 35" arms and went with the XL

Not as sexy as the hover stretch.. but.

Initially bought the hover stretch in the wrong size.. picked up the pro version for comparison on recommendation from burton staff and decided to stick with it.

When I spend ~$600 on a boarding jacket i expect it to last me a long time (at least 10 years hopefully, considering I only ride maybe 8-10 days per season) to include all the newest tech, and to really perform. I think both burton hover jackets I tried should meet these criteria (though, of course, only 10 years of use will be the true test).

The hover stretch was definitely softer and more pliable.. which made it feel like it would allow a full range of movement and really stay out of your way. It felt VERY sexy. The pro is noticeably heavier, and not nearly as soft/stretchy/pliable, but with it's heavier gauge gore tex, seams and construction I was told it should last quite a bit longer and hold up better to wear and tear, which was ultimately the deciding factor.

Both jackets seem very well designed with a host of impressive features including Wrist Gaiters (my fav!), fully adjustable hood, a strong selection of pockets and, of course, the triple layer gore tex with taped seams that should keep you well protected from the elements no matter where you ride. I've got a trip to Quebec coming up. Last year the temp dipped down to about -35, which was awfully cold, but we persisted. This year I expect my new jacket will make it a little easier to face such crazy temps, should the need arise. I can't wait to test it out!
